Canada Launches US$736 Million-Equivalent Venture Capital Initiative

On 22 October, the Government of Canada announced a C$1 billion (approximately US$736 million) cash commitment for its Venture and Growth Capital Catalyst Initiative, with C$700 million for a fund-of-funds stream, C$200 million for life sciences and C$100 million for emerging managers. The government expects the programme to leverage at least another C$2.1 billion from private investors; startups and venture funds can explore financial modelling and investor analytics, with HPC providing computing and data services through a tailored quotation.
