Ghana’s Mining Sector Faces New Wage and Contractor-Compliance Requirements

On 22 October, Reuters reported that Ghana had directed its Minerals Commission to standardise wages and employment conditions across the mining industry amid plans to transfer some operations to local contractors. The regulator was asked to develop a contractor-classification system and submit implementation proposals by 30 November, creating potential demand for employment compliance, contractor due diligence and governance support; no specific contract value or new legal-services fee was disclosed, and HPC can assist with compliance reporting and secure data workflows.
